Elite Athletes

  • AFL

    Isaac, a product of the Sydney Swans Academy, moved into the senior squad in 2015. Despite a knee injury early in the season, Isaac managed 16 goals and 10 Behinds in 14 games and has had a strong start to the 2016 season.

    James debuted for the Swans in round 21 against GWS in 2015 scoring 3 goals and played again in the semi final. After a strong season of AFL and NEAFL, James has signed on with the Swans for another two years.

    Drafted to the Swans in 2013, Xavier debuted in the same year in round 14, against Carlton and has remained in the senior squad ever since. A key defender in the Swans NEAFL side, he is hoping to play more senior football in 2016.

    UTS Norths athlete Adrian has seen success in the middle distance events on the track. In 2015, Adrian represented Australia and UTS at the World University Games, placing 13th in the 1500m. At the 2015 Australian Championships, Adrian placed 6th in the 1500m final.

    Annabelle is a Trimple Jump athlete who represents UTS Norths. She placed 2nd at the Australian Junior Championships in 2015 and 3rd in 2016. Annabelle was also the 2015 NSW Junior Triple Jump Champion.

    Anthony is a proud UTS Norths sprinter. He represented Australia at the 2014 World Junior Championships, where his relay team finished 7th. Anthony recently placed 10th in the 100m and 5th in the 200m at the NSW State Open Championship.

    Carla is a very talented junior athlete who favours the hurdles event. She received a bronze medal at this years Junior National CHampionships for the 100m hurdles and placed 6th at the NSW Open Championships.

    Ed is a talented distance runner who represents UTS Norths. In 2015, he placed 2nd in the 5000m at the Australian Junior Championships. Edward will be competing in the Cross Country Championships over the winter months of 2016 and will return to the track later in the year.

    Emmanuel is the current NSW Triple Jump Champion. In 2015, he won gold at the Australian Junior Championships, and is currently ranked 5th in Australia in the Open Division.

    Bella is a 100m hurdler/sprinter who is a regular competitor in both state and national events. After a fantastic 2015 season, she has been selected to represent Australia at the World Junior Championships later this year in Poland. Bella proudly represents UTS Norths Athletics Club.

    Jack is a UTS Norths member who specialises in middle distance events. In 2015, Jack won the NSW State Open Title in the 1500m and qualified for the final at the Australian Championships. Jack was successful in qualifying for the World University Games in 2015, but was unable to compete due to injury.

    Jay is a UTS Norths member who competes in the race walk. In 2015, Jay placed 4th in the Australian Race Walking Championships and recently placed 2nd at the NSW Championships in the 5000m walk.

    Liam specialises in the field throwing events. He is currently ranked 4th in Australia for Discuss and 5th in Shot Put. Liam recently won 2 gold medals for UTS Norths Athletics Club at the 2016 NSW Club Championships.

    Mason is an 800m specialist, winning the NSW State Open title in both 2015 and 2016. He placed third in the 800m final at the 2016 National Championships against a very strong field. Mason represents the UTS Norths Athletics Club.

    Matt competes for UTS Norths in the hurdles events. Matt placed 1st in the 400m hurdles at the Australian Junior Championships. He has also been selected for a number of Athletics Australia Talent ID camps.

    Matthew was a member of the Australian Athletics Talent Squad for 2014/15. He is a CAS record holder for the 200m and a state record holder in the hurdles. In 2016 Matthew made the final of the 200m and 400m at the Australian Junior Championships.

    Olivia has had great success in the 400m in 2016. She finished 1st at the State Open Championships, 3rd at State Juniors and qualified to represent Australia at the World Junior Championships in Poland.

    Sam is the current NSW 100m Champion as well as the 2015 and 2016 Australian Junior 100m Champion. In 2015 Sam competed in her first senior team at the World Relay Championships and has qualified ro represent Australia again at the World Junior Championships in Poland.

    Sean is a UTS Norths sprinter, competing in the 100, 200 and 400m events. In 2014 Sean qualified for the World Junior Championships and following injusry setbacks in 2015, he is set to make a comeback in 2016.

    A dual citizen, Steven represents both Australia and the USA in race walking. When in Australia, Steven competes for UTS Norths. In 2016, Steven placed 4th in the 5000m walk at the NSW Open Championship.

    Timothy is a member of UTS Norths Athletics Club who competes in throws events. At the 2016 NSW Junior Championships, he won the Hammer Throw and placed third in the Discuss. Timothy then went on to place third at the Australian Junior Nationals in the Hammer Throw.

    Daniel had a breakthrough year in 2015, with selection into both the junior and senior Australian sides. In his first senior team, competing at the World Titles in Croatia, Daniel finished 11th.

    Alyssa, a long term member of both the NSW Breakers and the Southern Stars, was also involved in the inaugural Women's Big Bash League over the summer, playing for the Sydney Sixers. Most recently, Alyssa played in the T20 World Cup where the Southern Stars made the final.

    Chris is a contracted player with the Sydney Thunder and was a member of the Big Bash League 2015 Grand Final winning team. Chris has also played County Cricket in the UK for Surrey and after an impressive 2015 season, Chris was rewarded with a 2016 NSW contract.

    Harry started representing Australia at the age of 18. He is currently a member of the Sydney Sixers Extended Squad and Cricket NSW 2nd XI.

    Pat was a member of the Australian One Day International side who won the World Cup in 2015. He was also selected for the Ashes tour but was sidelined by injury from September. Pat is hoping to make his return for the One-day-team tour of the West Indies in June this year.

    Harrison is an up and coming quality rider. He finished 13th in the GC at the Adelaide Tour and has multiple top 10 stage finishes. Harrison rides for the professional GPM Stulz Team.

  • Diving

    Nicholas has been representing NSW from 2009. In 2014 he was selected to compete at the World Junior Diving Championships and in 2015 won a Gold medal at the FINA Diving Grand Prix in the 10m mixed synchro. Nicholas is a NSWIS scholarship holder for 2016.

  • Fencing

    Harrison has had a successful year in 2015, where he finished 8th in Adeliade's AFC2, 13th in Melbourne's AFC3 and 14th at the National Championships in Canberra. Harrison is also a member of the UTS Fencing Club.

    Reagan has twice won gold at the Australian University Games, he is a member of the Open Men's Epee State Team. Reagan's success is evident through his State and National Ranking. He is crrently ranked 4th and 30th respectively and an U23 ranking of 10th.

    Christopher was a member of the Australian Schoolboy Side in 2015. Outside of school, Christopher was a member of the Sydney FC NYC Squad in both 2014/15 and 2015/16 seasons.

    Jonathan is a rising star in the football community, he is currently contracted to the Western Sydney Wanderers playing in the A-League. In the current season, he has played 5 games with a total of 390 minutes, 16 clearances and 8 interceptions. He is also a member of the Young Socceroos (U20s) Team.

    Tim was selected for the Australian Deaf Football as well as being a member of the Deaflympic Qualifying Squad in 2015. Tim was started in all four matches at the 2015 Asia Pacific Games and is the only Australian player to play every minute of the Tournament. Tim will represent the team again in 2016.

  • Gymnastics

    Desnee is the 2015 Level 10 State Champion. She has also had success on a National and International level, finishing 3rd place in Floor at the National Chmapionships, she also finished 3rd in Team and 7th overall at the New Zealand Nationals.

  • Handball

    Agustin represented NSW at the National Championships, where he was the top scorer of the tournament. He is also a key member of the UTS Handball Club.

    James is a long-time member of the UTS Handball CLub, playing in the premier competition in NSW. James also reached international success by becoming a member of the National Open Team, qualifying for the Olympic Qualification tournament in Qatar in 2015.

    Georgina is a rising star in Hockey, playing in the Women's Premier League Competition. In addition to this, she is a member of both the NSW U18 and U21 sides.

    Henry represented Tasmania in both the 2015 and 2016 U21 National Championships. Whilst studying at UTS, he plays in the Men's Premier League competition.

    Joshua currently plays in the Sydney Grade Hockey competition and in 2015 he took his skills international, playing in Ireland. Joshua is a member of the NSW U21 team.

     

  • Judo

    Kevin started representing Australia at the age of 16. He has competed and medalled at multipple Oceania Championships. Kevin spent most of 2015 injured but was able to compete in the Sydney International Open placing 3rd and then 1st at Australian University Games. 

  • Kayaking

    Torrington is a talented Sprint Kayaker, who competed at the National Titles and Oceania Championships over 2015 and 2016. His success has been rewarded as he has been nominated for the 2016 Australian U23 Canoe Sprint Team.

  • Kendo

    After much dedication to his training, Tony was graded into the elite Dan level after winning Kyu division at the Australian Kendo Championships in the same year. Tony recently competed in the 16th Hong Kong Asian Open Kendo Championships representing his UTS club and Australia.

  • Netball

    Georgia was selected in both the 2015 and 2016 NSW U21 sides. In 2016, Georgia and her NSW side were the National Champions. Following on from this success, she was called up to join the NSW Waratahs Open side to play in the ANL. Georgia will also be playing in the NSW Premier League.

  • Netball

    Rudi is a member of the 2016 NSW U19s team as well as playing in the NSW Premier League. Adding to her success at a state level, she is a NSWIS scholarship holder. She has also been selected for 3 AIS talent ID camps.

    Stephanie was a member of the 2015 NSW U21 side, from which she was selected to be a member of the UTS St George Sparks, currently playing in the NSW Premier League. In 2016 National Championships, Stephanie was an import player for Tasmania.

  • Netball

    Toni was a key member of the 2015 NSW U19 side, where she was named MVP of the tournament. Following this, she was awarded an AIS residential scholarship. Already this year, Toni has been a member of the 2016 NSW U21 side and is currently in Adeliade as a replacement player for the Adelaide Thunderbirds.

    William represented the Men's NSW U21 side where he was selected for the 2015 Australian side. In 2016 he was selected in the NSW U23s Men's Team and was again selected for the Australian side to tour New Zealand later this year.

  • Rowing

    James started rowing in 2008 and represented NSW shortly after from 2012. Rowing for UTS, he finished 1st in the U23 lightweight scull at the 2016 State Championships and continued this form into Nationals. Following Nationals, James was selected to represent Australia at the World U23 Championships.

    James, a member of the UTS Rowing Club is a member of the NSW Open Leightweight 4. In 2016 he placed 1st in the Open age Men's Lightweight quad at the State Championships and 6th in the single scull. James also won a gold medal for UTS at the Australian University Games.

    2015 was a great year for Lara, winning multiple medals in schoolgirls and junior rowing. She was rewarded for her efforts with selection in both the NSW schoolgirls and NSW Youth VIII squads. Lara competes for the UTS Rowing Club.

    In 2015 Maxwell achieved great results at both a state and national level. He placed first at the National Championships in the U19 double scull.

    UTS Rowing Club athlete Victoria started competing at the National Rowing Championships at the age of 15. She has had great success at the State and National titles and received a Gold medal at the State Championships for the U23 quad scull.

  • Rugby League

    After impressive seasons in the Rabbitoh's U20s squad, including being awarded the best and fairest award in 2014, Cheyne has been contracted to the first grade squad. He has also played in the Charity Shield match for the Rabbitohs in both 2015 and 2016. Cheyne hopes to make his NRL debut this season. 

  • Rugby League

    Daniel is a member of the Parramatta Eels First Grade NRL squad. He made his NRL debut in May 2015 and was awarded the Parramatta Eels rookie of the year.

    Nathan is a contracted Wests Tigers Player who was offered a first grade contract after impressive U20s seasons. He made his NRL debut in round 13 in 2015 and is hoping to play more in 2016.

    Tom was contracted to the Rabbitohs in 2012 at the age of 16. It wasn't long before Tom was offered to train with the NRL squad and now holds a first grade contract. He was selected to play in the 2015 and 2016 Charity Shield matches.

  • Rugby Union

    Samuel was first contracted to the Australian Barbarian 7s in 2013 where he toured as part of the HSBC World Series. In 2016, Sam was again contracted to the Barbarians adding to his World Series caps and returning to top form after a serious neck injury.

  • Sailing

    Amelia started racing competitively in skiff racing at the age of 11, competing in the 29er now for two years. She is a member of both the NSW and Australian Youth Sailing Team. In 2015 Amelia placed 7th at the Youth World Championships.

  • Shooting

    Competing in rifle shooting, Daniel is a member of both the NSW and Australian junior and senior teams. In 2015 he received a Bronze at the Oceania Championships and competed for NSW at both the Youth and Open National Championships. In 2016 Daniel will represent Australia again at the Suhl Junior World Cup.

  • Skiing

    Florian is a national junior representative for Austria in Sprint Distance Cross - Country Ski. Most recently Florian placed 3rd in te European Universities Championships. He also has a rank in World FIS standings.

  • Skiing

    Toni is a member of the Australian National Junior Ski Team and the NSW/ACT Ski Team. In 2014 Toni represented Australia at both the World Junior Championships and the World Winter Universiade. She is currently ranked 6th in Australia for Skier X and has a world ranking of 61st.

  • Surf Life Saving

    Katie first represented the Australian High Performance team as a sprinter at age 18. She won a gold at the World Championships in 2013 and has captained the NSW team on multiple occasions. Katie is a consistent gold medalist at Nationals each year.

  • Surf Life Saving

    After a successful 2015 season, Max qualified for the professional Nutri-Grain Ironman Series. He placed 15th in the series as the youngest competitior. He hopes to qualify for the Series again in 2016.

  • Surfing

    Shane is a Junior Pro Surfer, competing in the World Qualifying Series. He has multiple top placings in the series and is currently ranked 191st in the World.

  • Swimming

    Callum is currently ranked 6th in Australia for the 400m IM. He also holds various top 10 ranking in other strokes and holds a scholarship with NSWIS. In 2016 Callum represented Australia at the FINA World Junior Championships.

  • Swimming

    Edward first represented Australia at a youth level in 2012 and in 2013 was selected on the Australian Youth Olympic Team, where he was a finalist in the 100m backstroke and 100m butterfly. Edward also holds a scholarship with NSWIS.

    Gabriel is a Swimming Australia Nationals junior finalist. He has also won multiple medals at the Pacific School Games and NSW titles.

    In 2015, Jack represented Australia in the Pacific School Games where he won a silver and bronze in the relays. He has competed in both State, Open and Age Championships. Jack has also competed at both Open and Age Australian Championships.

    Joshua is a national junior medallist for swimming. He has represented Australia at the Youth Olympic Games and is a NSWIS emerging athlete. Following an injury, Joshua is hoping to make a strong return to the pool next season.

    Kenneth has represented Australia at a World Class level in swimming since 2010. He reaced at multiplt World Championships and represented Australia in Glasgow at the 2014 Commonwealth Games, where he won two medals.

    Maddison started competitively swimming at the age of 10. She has since won multiple medals at a state and national level.

    Madeleine is a regular competitor at the Australian Age and Open Championships. She is ranked in the national top 25 for her age group in the 50m,100m butterfly and the 200m freestyle.

    Ollie has won National medals in both Surf Life Saving and Open Water Swimming. He is a member of the Swimming Australia Open Water Development Squad.

    SOphie has represented Australia in swimming since the age of 15. In 2014, she competed at the Junior Pan Pacific Championships, where her relay team broke the meet record. Sophie is currently ranked 1st in her age group for 200m freestyle and is on the Swimming NSW Emerging Talent Squad.

    Tomas first represented Australia as a junior swimmer where he competed at the World Junior Championships in Dubai. He is a current NSWIS scholarship holder. In 2015 Tomas won multiple medals in two legs of the FINA Swimming World Cup.

  • Table Tennis

    Vanessa is the current Australian Women's Junior Singles Champion. She is a member of the NSW state team and the Tier 2 Senior High Performance Squad. Vanessa is also a member of the Junior High Performance squad.

  • Taekwondo

    Serena is a regular Australian representative at multiple international events. In 2015 she placed 2nd at the National Championships. Also in 2015, Serena represented Australia at the World University Games where she placed in the top 16.

  • Tennis

    Blade, who has a current ranking of 67th, played in the Netherlands in an elite team in 2015. He also has ATP points and played qualifying rounds of the Sydney APIA  International.

  • Tennis

    Sonja is a team member of the UTS City Lizards, with a current Australian Ranking in the top 75. She won the doubles at the 2015 South Pacific Open AMT. Sonja is a key member of the UTS Uni Games side who have won multiple medals at both Eastern and Australian University Games.

  • Touch Football

    Stephanie plays for Manly Warringah in the Women's Premier League competition. Following a strong season, she was selected to play in the Elite 8's at the NTLs representing the Sydney Scorpions. Stephanie also represented Australia at the Junior Trans-Tasman Championships.

  • Triathlon

    Kieran received his professional license after impressive results in both elite short course and ITU events, as well as Half Ironman events. Later this year Kieran will move to Thailand to join a professional team and will compete in the World University Championships, representing both UTS and Australia.

  • Volleyball

    Elizabeth was selected as a member of the Senior Australian Volleyball Squad in 2015. She plays for the UTS Women's Honours team as well as the UTSSU Women's team in the Australian Volleyball League.

    Jason started playing for NSW in 2008 and has captained the team on multiple occaisions since then. He represents UTSSU in the Australian Volleyball League, the top level for Australian domestic Volleyball.

    In 2015, Anna made the U20s NSW Waratahs team and is a current member of the UTS Balmain Tigers National League Team.

    Cathryn has been a representative in numerous NSW State teams, continuing on from that success Cathryn was a member of the 2015/16 premiership winning squad in the National League competition.

    Hannah is currently playing in the National League competition. She is also a current member of the NSW Junior Women's squad as well as a member of the NSWIS emerging talent squad.

    Harry's highest achievement in Water Polo to date, has been being selected for the Australian Men's Born '97 Team. Harry is also the starting centre back from the UTS Balmain Tigers in the National lEAGUE.

    James is a member of the Australian Water Polo squad competing regularly in the World Series. He was a member of the 2012 Aussie Sharks competeing at the London Olympics where his team finished 7th. James is also the goal keeper for the UTS Balmain Tigers in the National League.

    Nicholas started playing water polo at 16 and has since represented state and national teams. The pinnacle was in 2013 when he took part in the World University Games in Kazan, Russia playing for Australia. He currently plays for the UTS Balmain Tigers in the National Water Polo League.

    Sam has represented Australia in many different competitions. 2015 was a big year for Sam, as he represented Australia at both the World University Games in SOuth Korea and at the Junior World Championships as a member of the Born '95 Team in Almaty, Khazakhstan.

    Stephanie started representing Australia in Water Polo at the age of 16 and is currently a key member of the UTS Balmain Tigers National League Team.

    Iman is the State and Oceania Champion. In addition to these titles, Iman also finished 1st in the Australian Cup and 2nd in the National Championships.
