Volunteer Officer Internship Opportuinity – The Pack @UTS

The position of Volunteer Officer for ActivateUTS is an unpaid internship that includes a wide variety of roles. First and foremost you are the direct contact between the students volunteering, and the event’s organisers. Your main duty is to ensure that the volunteers are being well looked after and are able to complete the jobs they are assigned. It is important that you are somewhat technologically savvy, and are able to learn processes through Google Drive as well as through Microsoft Office. You will be expected to maintain the volunteer database and create event work schedules for volunteers. You are also the go to person for event organisers to help them satisfy their event volunteering needs. This role will differ depending on the event but can involve liaising with internal UTS event’s organisers to create job lists and organise shifts, to simply promoting volunteer opportunities for external events. You will interact with volunteers through many different mediums and are expected to maintain a social presence on Facebook. Throughout the summer program, you will also be able to assist in the planning of many of the events for early next year at UTS.
To be successful in this internship it is essential that you have great people skills and are able to adjust to new situations. It is a fun and interesting position that puts you into contact with a variety of different people from volunteer students, to event organisers.
Volunteering is a great way to give back to the community and meet new people from all different countries. It allows you to create amazing memories and have fun while giving a helping hand.
Successful Candidates should demonstrate the following selection criteria:
- Be a current student at the University of Technology, Sydney
- Have excellent written a verbal skills
- Demonstrate leadership skills
- Have excellent computer skills- including Google Docs / Forms/ Spreadsheets (or willing to learn), Microsoft Office and social media
- Demonstrate knowledge of ActivateUTS
- Demonstrate knowledge of UTS
- Be organised and willing to learn new skills
- Willing to complete 240 hours of internship
