Chocolate Avo Mousse

This three ingredient Avocado Chocolate Mousse, may just be our easiest recipe yet!

If you’ve never tried avocado chocolate mousse before, then you’re in for a treat! This dessert snack is smooth and creamy… and you really can’t taste the avocado. The best part about this avocado chocolate mousse is that it tastes so rich and chocolatey that you forget you’re getting so many health benefits (from the avocado) at the same time!

What are these health benefits? Avocados are full of antioxidants, many, many vitamins such as vitamin C, vitamin E, Vitamin K, B vitamins like B5, B6 and folic acid. They’ve got anti-inflammatory and cholesterol reducing phytosterols, and essential minerals like manganese, copper, magnesium and potassium. Not to mention it’s full of dietary fibre. They’re just really good for you - ok!

Because most of the calories in an avocado come from fat, they do tend to get a bad rep but don't be deterred! Avocados are one of the few fruits that are full of healthy monounsaturated fats. A varied diet high in fruit and vegetables, such as avocado, has been shown to reduce the risk of heart disease and contribute to good heart health. Convinced yet? Let’s get started!

What you will need:

  • 2 Ripe Avocados
  • 2 Tbsp Cocoa Powder
  • 2 Tbsp Honey or Rice Malt Syrup
  • 1 tsp Vanilla (optional)

Optional Toppings:

  • Chocolate Chips
  • Fresh Berries
  • Dessicated Coconut
  • Flaked Almonds
  • Fresh Mint
  • Pinch of sea salt

Method:

  1. Open up your avocados and scoop them out into a large processor.  Pour in your cocoa powder, honey or rice malt syrup and vanilla if you are using it - blend it together until completely smooth and uniform.

  2. We poured ours into one large glass but we recommended scooping this into 4-6 small glasses/shot glasses - for a light snack. Place these glasses into the fridge and allow to chill for at least 3 hours to firm up - or overnight is even better!
  3. Once firm, remove mousse from the fridge and sprinkle with your favourite toppings - or essentially whatever you have on hand that might add a nice crunch, sweetness or colour. Take a picture to show your social media friends how healthy you’re being!
