2018 Student Diary

Diary Release: March 2018


The UTS student diary competition is open to all UTS students and is a chance to get creative and show off your artistic talent. The competition is to showcase talents which may remain largely hidden otherwise, and focuses on student engagement and participation, so why not have a go.

Winning entries will be published in the 2018 student diary and there are a number of ways to showcase your artwork including:

  • Design
  • Typography
  • Photography
  • Illustration
  • Painting
  • Writing
  • Lyric
  • Poem


The artwork must show case your interpretation of some of ActivateUTS’ core values of engaging, inclusive, innovative and respectful. Submissions must include a brief description of how your artwork reflects these values.


Initial artwork should be no more than 5 mg and submitted electronically to ActivateUTS.Marketing@uts.edu.au.

Artwork that is selected for inclusion in the 2018 diary, will need to be resubmitted as:

  • Size: minimum A5 210(h) x 148(w)mm. A4/A3are preferable. 5mm bleed all-around
  • Orientation: Portrait (photography should fit in this specs)
  • Resolution:300ppi
  • Colour: RGB or Grayscale



The competition is open to UTS students who are enrolled at UTS in session 2, 2018. Student submissions must include the following information:

  • First and last name
  • Student number
  • Email address
  • Phone number
  • Faculty/degree


This competition allows for the submission of one piece of artwork per student.


All entries must be original and painted/drawn/designed/taken/written in the past twelve months.


All entries remain the property of the artist and artists will be acknowledged in the 2018 diary. 


ActivateUTS reserves the right to photograph or use electronic copies of entries for use in publications and promotional material (all necessary acknowledgements will be made). By participating, entrants also provide future rights regarding the use of their images for ActivateUTS marketing purposes.


The competition will be judged by the ActivateUTS student Board Directors. The decision made will be final and no negotiations will be entered into.


The publication of artwork has been confirmed in good faith and ActivateUTS cannot be held responsible for changes or withdrawal of prizes due to circumstances beyond their control. This includes any loss, damage or injury (including consequential loss) occurring from the withdrawal or change of the diary publication. 

The prize is non-transferable and cannot be redeemed or exchanged for cash, credit or any other item.
