The UTS Rowing Club is one of Australia’s leading clubs and is recognised as a centre of rowing excellence in Australia.  It is headed up by internationally renowned coach, Tim McLaren in our new world class rowing facility. Between 1992 and 2007, Tim in partnership with Ellen Randell became a dominant force in building UTS into indisputably Australia’s most successful rowing club of that era. Developing and training a number of elite athletes who represented Australia at Olympic level on 37 occasions, winning 16 individual Olympic medals. The Club has also produced several World Champions and U-23 World Champions, as well as numerous National Champions.

  • The newly rebuilt UTS Haberfield Rowing Club has commenced running an introductory ‘Learn to Row’ program catered exclusively for students and staff of UTS of any fitness and experience level, as well as an intermediate training program for those with Rowing experience. This is free of charge, however you will need to bring your student/staff card on the day.
  • The shed is located on Dobroyd Parade Haberfield. Take the light rail to Leichardt Station and a short walk will get you there.\
  •  Bring along: Training gear (shorts and singlet/t-shirt) + change of clothes, toiletries, towel, sun protection (hat, long sleeve shirt, sunscreen, sunglasses) and lunch.


The Novice program runs on Tuesdays between 9:30am and 11:30am and the Intermediate program on Wednesdays between 9:30am and 11:30am, during the semester.
